Some classic vampire stories, those from Bram Stoker, Stephen King or Richard Matheson, impressed me deeply when I was a kid. The hunter/hunted nightmares I had for years disappeared with adulthood, but I'm still fond of these seducing monsters, and the huge number of related books proves I'm not alone in that case.
These books will show you how the theme has been stretched in different directions, from pure gothic horror to humor pastiche to detective thrillers. There are a lot of young adult vampire books, but Death and Sex being the close friends we know, many stories venture into eroticism, gay and lesbian themes or romance.
