  The kitten is intended to do the witches’ work and throw the returning monks and nuns off their mountain. He flees the witches’ cave before their spell has fully taken hold. They pursue him through a terrifying sequence of shape-shifting. Drusticc, Niall and Fergus, a young nun and two young monks, defy their abbot and struggle to help him. Each time they do, it brings violence and danger to their little settlement.
