While desperately fleeing from a loveless, abusive marriage, Jamie stumbles upon a secret facility operated by a clandestine group known only as "The Organization." The Organization, Jamie discovers, is a benevolent society dedicated to reclaiming an reforming antisocial individuals-especially the violently abusive-by kidnapping them in the dead of night, taking them to the facility and implanting computer chips in their brains that correct self-destructive and aggressive impulses. Jamie finds she must join the ranks of The Organization now that she has breached its security, but she does so willingly. After all, The Organization is devoted to the public good and the betterment of society.
Or is it?

While she is watching the evening news, Jamie's suspicions are aroused when she recognizes a robbery suspect as a "chip recipient" she helped kidnap and take to the facility. Soon another crime suspect turns out to be another individual "reformed" by The Organization. What is going on? And whom can she trust? The Organization is a vast and powerful network. Its operators seem to be everywhere, and, like night crawlers, wait for the cloak of darkness to do their work.

Night Crawlers is a tense, suspense-filled thriller drawn straight from today's science and technology headlines.
