A first novel.
Jordan Concland’s life after her mother’s death lost its momentum. At fifteen, living with her father, Mitch, Jordan ached for something more. Tired of feeling smothered, isolated, and hidden away in her own life, Jordan meets the mysterious, beautiful redhead Psyche and Damien. Anxious to leave behind the secrets and heartache that have plagued her past, Jordan runs away with them, and the rest of the family of Soul Takers, unaware of their secret. These creatures, unlike vampires, their mortal enemies, the Soul Takers do not suck blood of their victim, but take the “Light” of the soul during a deep, drawing kiss. One kiss was all it took for Jordan to be enraptured by Psyche. Jordan learns the world is full of dangers, some seen, some invisible. Only when a lone vampire threatens her existence does she learn the truth of the Soul Takers.
Refusing to believe Jordan is lost to him forever, Mitch, a retired police officer, embarks on a search for his daughter. Unsure if her father deserves to have Jordan back, Damien, still a fledgling Soul Taker, seeks out Mitch, only to discover the secret that has plagued Jordan since she was thirteen when her mother died and the corruption that exists in the heart and soul of a schizophrenic Catholic priest.
After a climactic encounter with the priest, Damien, Mitch and the Soul Takers must battle vampires in order to save all of their lives.
