   Additional Information

  A first novel.

Set in the world of Tessalindria with an Arthurian milieu to keep it familiar, thlis first in a projected several-volume series revolves around the classic struggle between good and evil. Princess Vrengnia embarks on a spiritual journey and is aided by a wise blacksmith and his son. Her father is conflicted by his desire to be a good king and father, and his desire for revenge. It becomes quickly apparent that the blacksmith is a deeply spiritual and prophetic man who is in constant communion with MahEladra, the sovereign spirit of Tessalindria.

The plot revolves around the king's request for the blacksmith to forge a sword that will be imbued with spiritual power. The blacksmith, for reasons that evolve, is unwilling to make a sword that has as its intent the harm of a man. The blacksmith and the king operate on two different levels, and the princess is searching for truth amidst the tension.

Faller has created a world with laws, customs, poetry in the "original language" and wisdom literature. Each chapter of his first installment begins with a pithy saying from the prophets and writings of Tessalindria. For example: "And where does one see his true self? Is it not in the darkness, when no one else is watching? When the full freedom of possibilities presents itself and he has to decide who he really is in that vast ocean of opportunity?" - Oratanga from Passages.

This is a book for those who do enjoy fantasy and for those who don't particularly. The characterizations and spiritual insight elevate it from fantasy to visionary fiction. People of all ages and backgrounds are enthralled with the plot, the characters and the spiritual underpinnings.

Faller avoids traditional Christian terminology, but the parallels become unmistakable as the story unfolds. As a skilled craftsman, Faller spins a tale as beguiling and engrossing as C.S. Lewis' Narnia and Space Trilogy.
