       Additional Information

Each of us is haunted ___ by something done or left undone, a mistake made or a chance missed. Casey Cooper, the protagonist of Billie's Ghost, qualifies as a haunted man on all counts. Deeply troubled by the death of his wife, Casey stays awake nights listening to jazz recordings and remembering ___ until his nightly visitations take a more corporeal form, that of a mysterious stranger. Eleanora, a smoking, drinking, cursing young black woman, claims to be a singer looking for gigs, but she seems quite out of her element. A walking catastrophe, she turns Casey's solitary existence upside down. Still, Casey resists kicking her out of his house because she is just too damned much fun. Plus, he senses she has come to him for a reason, a reason he won't know until he discovers whether she is who (or what) she says she is. Billie's Ghost is an offbeat literary mystery, a novel of love, loss, redemption, and rediscovery. But is it a ghost story? Readers will determine that for themselves
