Everyone has his price, and Commander Michael Milo of the Astership Twilon was no exception.
When the battle for the planet Della-Tyl raged on, the Astership Twilon, under orders from its heretical commander, disengaged from the galactic conflict and escaped into an alternative universe. For the act, Commander Michael Milo was branded a traitor, and The High Council commanded Milo's own son, Brit, to seek out and bring his father to justice. Neither The High Council nor Brit knowing that the price forfeited by Michael - for longevity, wealth, and power, in those other worlds - include his own son in the bargain. The father's machinations sucking Brit through The Drain with no chance of return for forty years. Brit anything but pleased at having been bartered without having had any say in the matter.
The aftermath pitting irate son against the infamous traitor from the Battle for Della-Tyl. Brit out for revenge and enlisting a barbarian planet's unsuspecting population to instigate a nefarious scheme of payback that has his father directly in deadly crosshairs and has Brit masquerading as a resurrected alien god.
