Berlewen is trapped in a story-book past she has not chosen, denied modern technology. Honesty, her chambermaid, longs to free her father and brother, enslaved in a weapons factory. Only Map, the bootboy, seems sure of the freedom promised in an old song. They are all prisoners of the repressive THEM.
A summons from THEM forces Berlewen, Honesty and the loyal enkenethal, to flee. To join the rebels on Glastonbury, they must brave the monster in the marshes. Their quest is to find the legendary Prince and set their people free.
But does the Prince exist? How will they recognize him? Even if they find him, how can they defeat the modern weaponry of THEM?
