      An avant-garde artist is attracting plenty of attention in his Farberville, Arkansas neighborhood. When the artist's estranged wife pulls up in a limo and announces her plans to have him committed to a mental institution, all of Farberville is in a dither. Before the day is over, the artist's house goes up in smoke and a dead body is discovered. When the artist is arrested for murder, bookstore owner and part-time sleuth Claire Malloy begins snooping in places she doesn't belong.
