Gallus Navius Lucan was three brothers away from inheriting the Dragon Throne of Numia. That suited him, since his aspiration was to become a priest of Solan. His uncle Magnus stole that dream away when he usurped the throne and killed Lucan's family. The only survivor of the royal family, Lucan has only one aspiration now-to overthrow Magnus and take back the government of Numia. Branna ta Cattia is the Raven, the high priestess of the conquered country of Tir na Ban. She has come to Numia because she has had prophetic dreams of performing the Ritual of the Balance, a spell that will defeat Magnus and free her people. Branna searches Numia for the man who has appeared beside her in her dreams-a priest of Solan. Branna gets more than she bargained for in Lucan. He is the priest she seeks, but he is also her spirit mate. How can she perform the ritual knowing what a terrible price it will exact? This level of magic never comes without brutal cost, and in this case the cost will be one of their lives.
