	Sally Caswell and her scientist husband, Liam, have moved to cottage in the village of Castle Darcy in Oxfordshire, very near Sally's friend, Meredith Mitchell. When Meredith hears that Sally has received a letter bomb, she and police superintendent Alan Markby assume that it was sent by animal-rights activists opposed to Liam's work.
