Anita Yellowhair had administered justice on the killer of her granddaughter, Maria, by releasing fearsome spirits into him that had been caught in a dream catcher. Rosa had just finished two months in a clinic to get sober and was determined to stay that way while she visited her grandmother, Anita Yellowhair, on the reservation. Since Rosa’s older sister had been killed, Rosa and her grandmother were the last descendants of the famed warrior, Eagle Woman. Events that occurred convinced her grandmother and the tribe’s chief that she was the one prophecy declared to be the Promised One who would lead their nation out of poverty. Anita Yellowhair had to teach her granddaughter how to contact her ancestors’ spirits and how to fight the dreaded Sand Walker spirits who would come to kill the Promised One. Her ancestors would help her, but there are no guarantees in this life.
