Bilby Botherington is a gnome in trouble. Summoned home from exile by the Gnome King, Bilby decides he needs help. He recruits Gavin, a ten-year-old boy conveniently trapped in a magic bottle, and Wysteria, a tree fairy (currently studying to be a fairy godmother part-time). When they arrive, they learn that the King's cookbook is missing, and Bilby is the only gnome the King can trust to retrieve it. A simple quest - or is it? For the King's cookbook isn't really a cookbook, and one of the suspects is lying... In the words of Bilby Botherington: "Before this quest is over, we'll face deadly peril, the kingdom will be brought to the brink of doom, and we'll be lucky to emerge alive and whole at the finish."
