It was a time of war. Death and destruction had become a way of life, and very few remembered the legendary tales of peace.

A nomadic warrior race from near the outer edge of the Amedian Galaxy, the Scarians have waged war on every other race in the galaxy for nearly two thousand years. They stand on the threshold of victory, and few threaten to stop their overwhelming tide of violence. But one man possesses the power to save the galaxy.

As part of the Mountain Miners nation, Christopher Aron belongs to a race of strong, conservative people whose sole vocation is to work the mines on the conquered planet of Enid. Along with his wife, Aron digs for the darkrite crystal and tries to ignore his nightmarish dreams-visions that inevitably come true. But this time, the images are much more disturbing than usual; Aron sees scenes of galactic warfare and death. Why is he the one experiencing such nightmares?

Little does Aron know that an ancient prophecy has already decreed his fate. Will he live long enough to realize his destiny, or will the Scarians rule the galaxy?
