  An engineer (Sam Democo) has discovered a new source of electrical energy. The government, in an effort to control this new energy source, frames Sam for murder and exiles him to a strange asteroid. The lab the government has built for him on the asteroid is built over the mouth of a cave. Sam finds an alien android (Gamaone) and a ship in the cave. Sam revives the android and finds out that he was sent to this system to help any intelligent beings resist the invasion by a group of space-dwelling people (the Neosions) who destroy everything in their path. By the time they bring the ship ("Barbarian") to the surface and repair it, Sam’s home world is under attack. Gamaone takes Sam back to his home world, where Sam shows everyone how to defeat the Neosions using a new weapon developed on his home world.
