  The book tells the story of five difficult teenagers named Jack, Seo, John, Lorlina and Katie who have been transferred to Burden High School following expulsions from other schools. But they refuse to reform their unruly ways.

After starting at the new school, an annual camping trip to the local forest takes place, and it is here that this group of troublesome teenagers will learn their lesson. As can be expected, they quickly grow tired of the camping – putting up tents and collecting provisions – so the group venture into the woods, where they discover an old chest with a strange engraving – stirips live. What can it mean?

As the teenagers find out the secret of the box, they are visited by unpleasant creatures and evil spirits. They take refuge in a cottage, thinking it to be safe. Only things aren't what they seem.
