	Twelve-year-old Amelia Hammer hungers for excitement and a chance to see the world. She resents being dumped in tiny, boring Dunstone, Ontario to stay with her grandmother and geeky cousin Simon while her engineer parents fly off to work in South America. But life in Dunstone turns exciting — even dangerous — after the arrival of a flamboyant stranger named Mara, and the sinister-looking man who is hunting her — neither of whom, as it turns out, are human.
