       Additional Information
In Freeware, Rudy Rucker has created a race of artificial life that is part algae, part plastic and capable of "superhuman power." These beings--called "moldies"--can also be programmed to possess intelligence levels far beyond human capacity and can mold themselves into any conceivable shape. Despite these traits, the moldies are generally content to work menial jobs and focus most of their energy on reproduction, whether with humans or other moldies. When such a liaison occurs between Randy Tucker and a moldie named Monique, the two become linked in a strange mystery involving alien abductions and a seemingly inevitable confrontation with beings from another planet. The bizarre series of events that expose the conspiracy is a twisted ride indeed, revealing a futuristic vision that is as dark as it is inventive.
