	The Crutons, an ancient evil, threaten to conquer the universe. A war of good against evil rages for centuries. Prophecy speaks of two heroes who will stop the Crutons and restore peace to the universe. They’re lost. Dave is a chemist from Earth who is certain the people of Earth are alone in the universe. Chuck is a chemist from another world who, while experimenting with the theory of displaced matter accidentally displaces himself into Dave’s lab. He is also proof Dave is wrong in his belief the people of Earth are alone in the universe. A botched chemical door sends the pair on an adventure spanning many worlds. The Crutons want to kill them. The forces of good want them to fulfill the prophecy and destroy the Crutons. Chuck and Dave just want to find a way home. Eventually, against their best efforts, the pair are drawn into the prophecy and set out to do what they feel must be done.
