In return of the Titans, Alexander is the Captain of the Apollo, a battleship in the Olympian space fleet. He and his crew have a surprise encounter with a group of Titan combat ships escorting an invasion force.
Unbeknownst to Alexander the rest of the Olympian fleet is also engaging a much larger force of Titan ships. The Olympians learn that the primary purpose of the attack was to get a Titan battle group through Olympian space so they can attack and occupy a planet more than 7,000 light years away from Olympus.
This distant planet, Earth, has vast resources that would allow the Titans to establish a base from which they could launch a second battle front against Olympus. Olympus would not be able to survive a two-front war.
Captain Alexander is promoted to Commodore and is given command of an experimental and highly advanced ship. This ship, Ares, is able to get to Earth in less than half the time it will take the Titans. Alexander races to Earth and discovers the planet is not unified and the technology level is pre-fusion. With only 16 months before the Titans arrive Alexander works with the people of Earth to somehow mount a defense.
