Imagine if the Roman Empire had never ended. Would our world be any different? Would Celtic cultures still have to struggle against Roman oppression, or would cultural tolerance and respect for boundaries prevail? The setting is a small university town in Appalachia. The Romans have assimilated all but the last handful of Celtic inhabitants on Earth. Professor William J. MacFargus, the leader of the secret Latha-luain Society, organizes one final assault against the Romans involving science and the use of mystical information from Gnostic scrolls found in a golden jar buried deep beneath the original find at Nag Hammadi.
