On a tiny world near the edge of her galaxy Anaxiunara seeks a nesting place to bear her eggs. She finds what seems like the perfect place; a cluster of islands far from any occupied land. There is time, then, to sleep awhile until her babies mature. Two hundred years later the mother of dragons awakes to find that her island nest has been overrun by humans, and one of them has befriended one of her offspring. Anaxiunara teaches the young human girl to wield powerful magic. But when the Great Dragon meets the girl s father (Capt. Jo Lee Validad) she discovers a magic more powerful even than she knows. Now, Jo Lee is drawn into a battle to save his family and his island home. Anaxiunara has vowed not to interfere. But with this strange new magic compelling her to help the man, how can she keep her vow? Anaxiunara has not known the magic of love before. And, if it can be said that a dragon has a weakness it would be curiosity. She must learn what it is to be human. She must know what it is to be loved.
