   Additional Information

A historical fantasy set in the Byzantine Empire of the 11th century. In A.D. 107, the Byzantine armies are fighting the Seljuk Turks. When the young warrior Leo learns that his emperor, Romanus, has been tortured and executed, he takes a job as a caravan guard and travels east, where he joins forces with a motley cast of characters. When the province of Cappadocia is taken over by a band of unruly, uncivilized Turks, Leo and his friends are in danger until they discover the entrance to an underground city which promises a new kind of peril, but also the possibility of reward and peace.
