James Baldwin is on his swansong motorcycle ride in upstate New York. He's dying. Happening upon a small hamlet called Wellsville, he muses at the name and decides to rest a while, but little does he know that he will never leave. James has a colorful past: an ex-Army ranger and one of the most lethal men on the planet. He'll need those skills for very soon the most lethal creature of the underworld, a vampire, will challenge him.
