A young paleolithic woman named Tralalililea is banished from her clan for suggesting that the Earth is round. She is told that she might one day return if she will travel to the edge of the world. She sets off with her pet tiger, Fluffy, and they soon meet William, who travels through and across time to alternate Earths in a modified Winnebago in search of the edge of the Macroverse. In their travels, they find a world in which King Arthur has ruled for 1500 years, and intelligent dragons keep kosher, a world ruled by a tyrant parrot, a world where Feng-Shui Masters control the weather and geological events, and many others. All the while trying to find out why they are being prevented from knowing their own future by their future selves, their hyper-dimensional computer named Bob, and a mysterious couple named Sam and Janet. They also try to solve problems involving the structure of the macroverse, the existence of the soul, and the nature of something called The Prime Entity.
