Gabi (Gabriella) is a long-legged distance runner who has a habit of finishing in second place. When her father, Jack, the last of the mad scientists, invites her along on a drive to northern Arizona to field-test his latest invention, a prototype Mars rover, nicknamed rex, she jumps at the chance. Fifty miles from nowhere, in a desolate corner of the Navajo Nation, they are caught in an unexpected thunderstorm. When their old Dodge truck goes nose-first down an'abandoned mine, they are trapped. Jack is alive but, unconscious. Gabi knows she must get him out of the rain and the freezing cold before it's too late. Will her long legs and indomitable spirit be enough to save them both? Help comes from unexpected places
