       Additional Information
Befriended by a slave and the captain of a riverboat, a young runaway named Joseph Greene found adventure on the river and the love of a young Mary McAlexander. The Civil War would not only test their love for one another but the faith of the McAlexander, Chrisman, and Patterson families as each endured the war-s death and destruction.

Death rode across the South in the guise of the southern home guard, taking the innocence without hesitation or regret. The sorrow they left would last forever as each proud family endured while losing their innocence.
