As a construction inspector, there is a considerable amount of time during the day, that is spent stand watching other people work. Course the best part of that is you get paid for watching other people work. As with all things involved with construction one has to have a slue of certifications.
He currently holds certifications from the National Institute for Certification of Engineering Technicians (NICET) in Geotechnicial Engineering Construction Inspector, ICBO Structural Masonry Inspector, and American Concrete Institute as well as certification as a Hazardous Waste Remediation and Site manager and nuclear test equipment. He earned an Associate of Science Degree in Design Drafting from Consumnes River College, Sacramento, and Calif.
Well, back to how he got started writing. As an inspector there is lot of time spent reading, not necessarily the specifications for the job either. About 6 years ago he was observing a large fill placement of soils that could not be tested and during the course of the day began to write down notes on what he thought would be a story. One thing led to another and those notes became chapter one to a book printed on 8 1/2 X 14 legal pads while sitting in the cab of his truck.
He has always been a great science fiction fan. So, just let his imagination wander and little by little a story seems to piece it's self together. That was the case with "A Stab in the Back" his first book.
