Robert Blacketer was raised and currently lives in rural central Illinois with his wife, daughter, their cat and "the watch monster" out back. He does a weekly column for the Pike Press as well as freelance articles, short stories and novels. As a founding partner of Straight Arrow Outfitters in Pike County, Bob spends a good bit of time watching the deer in the outdoors that he loves. He is a member of #the_writersclub on dalnet, where he goes by the name of ^Writer, and enjoys chatting with other writers and meeting new people.
Bob Blacketer characterizes himself "a Former Marine" as he believes there is no such animal as an ex-Marine. Over the years he has worked as a radar repairman, school bus driver, maintenance mechanic and copier technician. He holds an AAS in Broadcast Electronics Technology and received one of the last Lifetime General FCC Licenses issued.
After suffering a disabling injury in 1989, Bob turned to writing as a creative outlet. He returned to college to earn an AA in Journalism and is currently working on his BA degree.
