Pamela R. Calvin was born in Des Moines, Iowa and spent her youth living on a farm in Southwest Iowa. She attended Nebraska Wesleyan College in Lincoln, Nebraska and the University of Iowa in Iowa City, Iowa, majoring in psychology and special education. After returning to Southwest Iowa, Ms. Calvin worked for several years with Head Start as a home-based teacher for handicapped children.

In 1985 she moved to Virginia with her husband, son, and daughter and is currently employed in the circulation department of The Free Lance-Star in Fredericksburg, Virginia. Her greatest pleasures include music, oil painting, and writing.
