Dr. Leslie Cohen was born and educated in Baltimore, Maryland and received his PhD from The Johns Hopkins University in 1952. He is a research physicist who has worked in academia, government and private industry. His time has been divided mostly between basic research and
defense applications and, to a lesser extent, in teaching elementary physics and introductory modern physics. He has published in the fields of low-energy nuclear physics, laser physics and innovative sources of radiation. The results of his work have appeared in both research journals and limited-access reports.
Dr. Cohen has also co-edited three special editions of collected works on the gamma-ray laser. In addition, he has given contributed and invited talks at professional meetings.
