Joseph Cowley spent most of his career with The Research Institute of American as an editor and writer. He is the author of the several novels, plays, a collection of shorter fiction, and, with Robert Weisselberg, The Executive Strategist, An Armchair Guide to Scientific Decision-Making.

His articles have appeared in trade and science journals, and his short stories in Prairie Schooner, New-Story, The Maryland Review, Ohio Short Fiction, and other literary journals and anthologies. He is currently writing a biography of John Adams for young adults, working on a sequel to the adventure novel Dust Be My Destiny, and also writing a futuristic thriller called Don't Shoot-I'm Not the Enemy.
