After trying her hand at a variety of careers: retail sales, insurance underwriter, video store owner, home day care provider, and motherhood, in 1990, Elysa Hendricks, a longtime reader sat down to write a short contemporary novel. When her heroine turned out to be a winged, telepathic alien, Elysa decided she enjoyed writing stories set in different places and times.

Elysa teaches workshops on writing at writer’s conference and at the local community college.

Long time residents of Illinois, Elysa and her husband have been happily married for thirty years and have two sons. Someday she dreams of writing on a laptop while sitting on a tropical beach.
