Burt Keltner was born in Terry, Montana and raised on his parents' cattle ranch in southeastern Montana. Growing up in one of the least populated areas in the United States, the hills and roughs of Eastern Montana were his playground. He started writing early on, scripting and drawing tiny comic books starring "Terry Man" when he was six years old.

Burt currently resides in Montana with his wife Monique, son Kael, and daughter Isis.
