Mary Soon Lee grew up in London, but now lives in Pittsburgh, where she runs a writers' group called the Pittsburgh Worldwrights. Her short stories have appeared in Amazing Stories, F&SF, Interzone, Realms of Fantasy, Spectrum SF, Sword & Sorceress, and the Year's Best SF #4 and #5.

Mary's father was ethnically Chinese, grew up in Malaysia, had a British passport, and met her Irish mother in Dublin. She has an MA in mathematics and a Diploma in computer science from Cambridge University, and an MSc in astronautics and space engineering from Cranfield University.

Mary is married with one son: William Chye Lee-Moore, born in April 1999, who is, in Mary's entirely unbiased opinion, exceedingly cute.
