James McCann is an author of YA fiction with his second book just published this Spring 2005. He also writes book reviews for the Canadian Children's Book News, and has sat on the Our Choice committee in 2004 and 2005 helping single out the best of the best of children's literature.
As a teenager, McCann was labeled a "reluctant reader" and often found school difficult to sit through. What turned him around was finding a method of writing using maps: of worlds, cities or buildings, and now he is teaching his successful method to young adults. From Word on the Street (his was the first ever workshop for WOTS) to classrooms, McCann is slowly offering youth a map to seeing their dreams come true!
Biography provided by the author, March 2005.
