  About the author

Susan Mokelke was born in Washington, D.C. From the age of two she lived in Los Angeles and spent her formative years in the creative, easy-going LA ambience.

From an early age she was drawn to science fiction and fantasy. Her favorite author was Andre Norton, who inspired her to make her first attempt at a novel at age 11.

Life intervened and she went off to USC to study biology. After college she attended Loyola of Los Angeles Law School, passed the California bar, and practiced law for a downtown LA law firm. She left the practice of law after a few years to work with a non-profit educational foundation dedicated to issues of global community. There, she wrote essays for the monthly magazine, produced videos, and designed and led courses.

She now lives in the San Francisco area with her husband and various furry companions. She writes songs to inspire and practices shamanism, an ancient healing tradition.
