He was born in Kurdistan of Iraq. He graduated as a math teacher in 1967 from the University of Baghdad. He taught math for 23 years in Kurdistan of Iraq. He escaped with his family Iraq November 1990, and they arrived to USA September 1991 as refugees.

He worked as a linguist with US Army in Kuwait and US Air Force in Kirkuk/ Iraq, December 2002 July 2005. He attended the Defense Language Institute as Arabic Instructor in Monterey, California June 2006.
