Heidi graduated from Michigan State in 1983, and earned her J.D. from DePaul College of Law. Her partnership with Nick Manolukas began on the Summer Solstice of 1986, when they met at the Printers' Row Book Fair in Chicago.

Since then, they have traveled together around the globe, and worked as activists, lawyers, counselors and mediators, trying to promote the ideals of social justice and progressive political change.
