Bill Newman was born in London, England in 1944. He immigrated to Canada with his wife, Helen, in 1979. They have two sons, Matt and Tom and the family lives in Ottawa, Ontario.

Bill Newman was educated at City University, London and the University of Essex. In the past 35 years he has worked as a computer scientist and project manager for British Telecom, IBM and Nortel Networks.

He has been writing as a hobby for the last fifteen years and his other pursuits include bridge, soccer, downhill skiing and bicycling. He has written one other novel – Genie – a romantic adventure story set in Australia.
