Dave Putnam, born in 1958 in Devil's Lake, North Dakota, has spent the past 15 years as a sculptor specializing in fantastic animal forms. His work includes an elephant graveyard for the New Orleans Zoo replete with the eerie curvilinear shapes of elephant skeletons to a 35-foot long steel dinosaur in the Bonfante Gardens theme park that expresses unique concepts in paleontology.
For the past five years Putnam has developed a canine protection sport called Irondog that has been featured dozens of times on the cable channel Animal Planet. Putnam is a life long student of history, philosophy, and an avid science fiction fan. His latest writing project is a trilogy of alternate history novels that seeks to combine all his disparate interests into a cohesive whole.
