Robert Runte is an editor and critic specializing in Canadian speculative fiction. He was co-editor (with Yves Meynard) of Tesseracts 5, an original anthology of Canadian SF; served on the Editorial Board of Tesseract Books; and is currently editing an undergraduate textbook on Canadian SF.
For many years the editor and publisher of New Canadian Fandom, the first Canadian national SF newsletter, he currently maintains the NCF Guide to Canadian Science Fiction, Fantasy, and Fandon web site. He won Aurora Awards in 1989 and 1990 for his contributions to Canadian SF and was Fan Guest of Honour at at ConAdian, the 52nd World Science Fiction Convention (WorldCon).
He is currently an Associate Professor in the Faculty of Education at the University of Lethbridge, where he teaches and researches in the areas of popular culture, cyber culture, and student evaluation. He is looking forward to retirement when he expects to write the Great Canadian SF Novel.
