Sachs is an old sci-fi fan from the 1940's who once published a fanzine, STFFM. He began his professional
writing career in the 1950's writing for trade magazines, notably International Blue Printer. He shifted to slick boating magazines after settling in Houghton to teach at
MTU. Those articles culminated in the nautical book IRMA QUARTERDECK REPORTS. Over the years he wrote a few sci-fi short stories including THE LINK and THE INVADERS, both published by Woods Runner magazine at Lake Superior State College. He now divides the year between Houghton, Michigan
and Portland, Oregon.
