As a child, Schimschal was greatly affected by the cold war, and with it the threat of a global nuclear war. To overcome this fear, Schimschal began to formulate ideas about surviving such a war and how society would rebuild. As the 1990’s came to a close, Schimschal graduated from college with a Biochemistry degree, and began a career as pharmaceutical scientist. After graduation, Schimschal decided it was time to bring the Darken Realm to reality as a novel. Being a scientist and not trained as a writer, this was a huge undertaking, but Schimschal believed in his dream. With a change in Schimschal’s career, he began working as a technical writer for a pharmaceutical company. After a year focused entirely on writing, he found the experience needed to make his dream a reality. Schimschal lives in the Western Untied States with his wife, where they enjoy hiking and the outdoors.
