Ken was born in Sioux City, Iowa, while his father was stationed with the Air Force there. When his enlistment was up, he moved the family to Michigan and started his career with the State Police. They travelled around the state, so he had few longtime friends. When he graduated from high school, he entered the US Air Force Academy and then became a pilot on cargo planes. Divorcing and getting out of the Air Force in 1985, Ken moved from California to Seattle, WA and became a Reserve Technician. Alaska Airlines offered him a job as an airline pilot in 1988, where he remained until 1999.
Ken is now remarried and live in Colville, Washington.
He had always wanted to live in the woods and write books. He is now living my dream.
