Kathryn Sullivan was born in Berkeley, IL. Her father had a large science fiction and fantasy collection, but by age 14 Kathryn had read every book in it, so she began writing her own stories. Her early favorite authors were James White, Alan Nourse, James Schmitz and Andre Norton.
Her undergraduate degree from Northern Illinois University was in Anthropology, which helps a great deal in designing alien cultures. Her graduate degree in Library Science helps her find interesting research which sparks great ideas.
Kathryn is Distance Learning Librarian at Winona State University in Winona, MN. She is owned by two confused birds-a small jenday who thinks he's a large guard dog and a Moloccan cockatoo who thinks she's a small lapdog.
