James L. Swanson was born on the edge of San Francisco Bay, in Oakland, California, too many years ago to remember. His early life was one of adventure; leaving home “To see the world.” He went to sea for two years, and was a Marine for six years. He finished college in the Marines and was commissioned a Lieutenant. He is a war veteran, and has been a pilot, a scuba diver, a cliff and rock climber, and a solitary, big woods back-packer.
He has seen much of Europe, some of South America and Southern Mexico, including Yucatan; many of the Pacific Islands, including Chi Chi Jima and Iwo Jima, where he climbed Suribachi in honor of those who died there; and some of Russia, China, Japan and Korea. For many years he has been a business consultant, where he learned to write technical material, business and marketing plans; and where he began writing and crafting fiction.
