D.L. Tanner was born in the seacoast township of North Kingston, Rhode Island in 1956. Since his early teens, he has produced and published poetry, music, art and even a comic strip. The son of a European novelist, he tried his own hand in the publication of his first novel, Shadow of the Thunderbird.
An amateur cryptozoologist, Tanner is head of the South Carolina Cryptozoological Society (SCCS). Noted for his heartfelt, sometimes lyrical prose and depth of characterization, his stories are well-researched and routinely exceed 160,000 words in length. Due to the lack of gratuitous sex, language or violence contained in them, his novels have been praised by educators and designated recommended reading at the secondary and collegiate levels.
Biography provided by the author, February 2003.
