Joules Taylor was born in Devon, England, and earned a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) Degree in English Studies with Philosophy and Linguistics at Stirling University. She undertook a variety of jobs before settling on a career as a professional author, including barmaid, cook, sales assistant in a classical music shop, fishmonger, assistant manager of an entertainment complex in Edinburgh, charity fund-raising events organiser, sales and accounts officer for a multi-national communications plc, and website designer. She has had thirteen non-fiction works published since 1999, is the married mother of a teenage son - and a tarantula - and has a keen interest in local community organisations, native wildlife, and climate and environmental matters. She enjoys Muse, cyberpunk and sci-fi anime, and growing orchids.
