Sierra Torrin, whose real name is Rachel Shaw, was born in Illinois and moved to North Carolina right before she urned one. Her two loves are art and writing, and she began writing and illustrating her own short stories when she was eight. She moved to Ohio when she was 15, where she met her future husband in sophomore year of high school. He got her interested in role-playing games and Medieval fantasy. She took a few writing classes through the local cultural arts center, but didn’t take a formal class until college.
Rachel went to The Columbus College of Art and Design and graduated in 2000 with a BFA in advertising and graphic design. She started writing Medieval fantasy soon after college. She is currently doing freelance design under Sylver Moon Design while continuing to write. She is a part of a writing group, C.O.W. (Company Of Writers), who motivate her constantly. She is owned by a horde of cats, most notably, Color, a white cat with one blue eye and one yellow eye. She resides with her husband in the country on many acres of land, all owned by said cats.
